This monument is by Irish sculptor John Behan, and is a symbol of the positive impacts of Irish immigration in both the United States and beyond. It was a gift from Ireland to the United Nations.

This monument shows various immigrants disembarking off of a ship, much like many Irish did at Ellis Island, not too far from the UN building. The ship is packed full of people, looking towards America and towards a new life.
